After researching Arctic Mining, a sixth crew member appears in the choice window, costing 500 medals. The cost to hire a crewman is 25 random Arctic Future goods. When they gain levels, they will perform even better. They will also gain 100 experience points each time you use them. You can hire crew to sail in your ship to Arctic and mine Promethium. A highly damaged ship also costs more goods to repair. A damaged ship hauls less goods and needs more time to take a round trip. Taking a trip to the Arctic damages the ship by 15%. By upgrading the Arctic Harbor and hiring certain crew members, the expedition time can be decreased to a minimum duration of 7 hours. The standard travel time of the ship is 24 hours. A damaged ship also reduces the amount of promethium acquired. The amount of harvested promethium can be augmented or reduced by the crew members.

The ship requires the selection of three crew members from five randomly offered crew members. One trip to the Arctic provides the player with 50 promethium. This building produces Promethium, a special good of the Arctic Future.
